The Virtual Beloved Community Global Summit focuses on the 2023 King Holiday Observance theme, “It Starts with Me! Shifting Priorities to Create the Beloved Community.” The Panelist and audience will engage in a variety of conversations around what it means to shift our priorities to address the myriad of social justice and societal challenges facing humanity globally; how we shift our priorities; and, why it is important to make these shifts. |
The King Center Presents: It Starts With ME! A Virtual Youth Book Reading and Puppetry Presentation Summit
Participants will engage in a relevant and interactive conversation about having the right V.I.B.E. to influence for good. The conversation will include poll questions and visual presentations on ‘Input/Output: How What We Digest Impacts What We Demonstrate.’ This is all about cultivating the mindset to seize moments and movements that powerfully and positively transform us, our homes, our schools, our communities…our world. That’s a Beloved Community Mindset. Teens are encouraged to register to be a part of the livestream or to access the replay. |
Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2023
Join Atlanta History Center on Monday, January 16th to commemorate the legacy of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. See where you fit in the Beloved Community and enjoy civil rights-themed trivia, crafts, choir performances, Freedom Rider simulations on an authentic 1952 Greyhound bus, panel discussions, and more, including free access to their exhibitions. |

Tour Ebenezuer Baptist Church
Throughout its long history, Ebenezer Baptist Church, located in Atlanta, Georgia, has been a spiritual home to many citizens of the "Sweet Auburn" community. Its most famous member, Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., was baptized as a child in the church. After giving a trial sermon to the congregation at Ebenezer at the age of 19 Martin was ordained as a minister. In 1960 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. became a co-pastor of Ebenezer with his father, Rev. Martin Luther King, Sr. He remained in that position until his death in 1968. Tour Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Birth Home
Today visiting the home where Dr. King was born and lived the first twelve years of his life is often the highlight of ones visit to the park. The popular in-person tour of the interior of the home is limited to 15 people and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the tour. Fragments is an art installation featuring metal shapes engraved with King’s words in his distinctive handwriting. Designed by Paula Scher and Abbot Miller, the piece captures King’s ideas as they developed on paper.
